Surge Summary: Along with the Central Event celebrated … lots of other consequential events have transpired on Christmas Day through history.

On Christmas Day, many people worldwide gather together to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior.
But December 25 is also known for many other events, which are as follows:
- D. 508: Clovis I of the Franks is baptized into the Christian faith.
- 800: Charlemagne is crowned Holy Roman Emperor in Rome.
- 1066: William the Conqueror is crowned King of England at Westminster Abbey.
- 1776: George Washington and the Continental Army cross the Delaware River in order to carry out an attack on the Hessian forces (who were serving the British as mercenaries) camped at Trenton. The battle, which took place the following day, resulted in an American victory.
- 1914: A Christmas truce takes place between German and Allied soldiers along the Western Front during World War I.
- 1989: During the Romanian Revolution, the Communist dictator Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife Elena are condemned to death and executed by firing squad.
1991: Mikhail Gorbachev resigns as President of the Soviet Union, resulting in its dissolution the following day. - 2020: Anthony Quinn Warner detonates a recreational vehicle (RV) in Nashville, killing himself and wounding several other people. Warner was known to be a conspiracy theorist in regard to his motives, particularly aliens. One might argue that he was trying to be a copycat of the Unabomber.
The birth of Jesus Christ was not the only birth that took place on December 25. Many other people were also born on Christmas Day, including the following famous individuals: Isaac Newton, Clara Barton, Humphrey Bogart, Cab Calloway, Jimmy Buffett, Barbara Mandrell, Sissy Spacek, Karl Rove, Annie Lennox, Dido, and Justin Trudeau.
Sadly, many people have died on Christmas Day over the centuries, including the following famous individuals: W.C. Fields, Charlie Chaplin, Dean Martin, and Eartha Kitt.
Another famous individual who died on Christmas Day was an Irish actor and lawyer named D’Arcy Corrigan. Although not as famous as the individuals previously mentioned, one particular role was that of the Ghost of Christmas Future in the 1938 version of A Christmas Carol. The role he played is ironic considering he died on Christmas Day in 1945. It is also ironic that he died seven years later, given that the character Jacob Marley died seven years prior to the events of A Christmas Carol.
Thus, many good and bad events have occurred on Christmas Day.
So have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
