Politicians think they have the answer. Economists think they hold the key. Religious people believe they know the secret path to peace. Military men believe they will be the last ones standing. Others believe technology will be our salvation.
Chinese Premier, Wen Jiabao, has a plan. Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, has a plan. Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has a plan. Obama and Castro and Chavez and Kim Jung Il and many others have plans. And all those plans are ego-driven strategies designed to acquire power and control others. Pride and presumption have always paved the path to war goaded by the lust for world domination.
Presidents have spoken of a New World Order. Walter Cronkite and many others, including the Rockefellers, have all pointed to the ultimate need for a world government, a global authority, if mankind has any hope of survival.
Whether it is soft or hard despotism, it boils down to the same thing in the end: a small group of powerful elite suppose they know best, giving themselves permission to rule the rest of us. They tell us such a global government is the only way to avoid nuclear annihilation or the demise of the human race brought by other weapons of mass destruction, by pandemics, or environmental disasters. (No one yet knows how to deal with a massive asteroid careening toward Earth, but we are working on it!)
For many years we have heard about secret societies and shadowy groups, power players behind the scenes, all scheming to take over the world: the Bilderbergers, the Trilaterial Commission, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Illuminati, Freemasons, Bohemian Grove, the worldwide Communist conspiracy, the worldwide Capitalist conspiracy, the United Nations, or the European Union, and a global banking conspiracy.
The deeper the world drops into crisis, the more we think about fear, and the more some welcome the strongman, one who will take away all the chaos and conflict, the one who will usher in a new world, a new order, a time of peaceful prosperity.
For Wen Jiabao and Putin and Castro and Chavez and Obama, the “one” is a system, a man-made government that will determine all matters of justice, the concentrated human power of secular government intervening to save the world.
For Muslims it will be the Twelfth Imam (Shiite) or the Muntazar (Sunni). Most everyone has a messiah. Native Americans, the Japanese, Buddhists, the ancient Aztecs and Mayans, Hindus, even Eskimos all have a savior in mind, all yearn for deliverance, all claim to know the one who will deliver the human race from mass suicide. Intriguing: the universal impulse to worship a creator and the universal sense that a central authority figure (or man-made system) will intervene to prevent the end of the world.
Yet throughout human history, only one has actually demonstrated sufficient power over life and death to prove his claim of being the “one.” Only One walked among us, clearly showing he possesses the power to command the wind and the waves. Only One claimed ultimate authority, saying he was and is the One true God. And only One has influenced the world for good like no other.
To know the One who has all power is to know the end of the story. It is to know the “happily ever after” truth that lies ahead. It is to know that the One true God is the very embodiment of everything loving, everything true, and everything good. Knowing all this is to know the One who drives away all fear.
One world order? Most assuredly it is coming. But it will not be fashioned by the hands of man, nor will it be ushered forward by the wild imaginings of fearful mystics. Rather, it will be established forever by the One who originated everything, the One who takes
responsibility for everything, the One who now sits at the right hand of God and who is God, the One who will “wipe every tear from their eyes,” the One who will establish his kingdom forever, where “there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things (will) have passed away.” Read all about it, starting in Revelation 19:11 to the end of the book.
