The latest Dr. J Show features Don Johnson, producer of the documentaries: Convinced (2015) about atheists converting to Catholicism, Unprotected (2018) about the harms of the Sexual Revolution, and Dysconnected (2022) about the transgender movement.
Dysconnected follows the story of Daisy, who shared a video diary of her transition as a teenager, and who later detransitioned. “A wave of girls are coming out the other side of this,” Johnson says. “There’s a Reddit group of 40,000 detransitioners.”
The movie also includes activists and experts, though not nearly as many as Johnson would have liked. He often heard, “‘No, I don’t want the pushback. I don’t want to be hated.’… It was almost impossible to get a therapist to come on record. The people who did are taking great risks, personally and professionally.”
“The stakes are very large here… It is a time in our culture though, where you have to speak up. I don’t think you can overestimate just how much the institutions have been overtaken by this and how strongly we’ve gotta fight back… We are way, way too silent on this.”
