The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is gearing up to engage in a massive effort to collect voter registration forms from residents of public housing. Naturally, the Biden regime and the Democrats want to register as many of the government’s dependents to vote as possible.
This will only open the door for voter fraud and other legal issues.
This voter registration drive comes as part of the “all-of-government” approach outlined in an executive order from Biden. HUD sent guidance to executive directors of more than 3,000 public housing authorities who manage around 1.2 million housing units.
The guidance provided information on how to run “a PHA-initiated voter registration drive.” PHA stands for “public housing agency.”
HUD officials also advised the local agencies on how to apply to become a “voter registration agency under the National Voter Registration Act,” and how to set up drop boxes for ballots on the premises. Since, you know, drop boxes are such a safe way for people to vote.
Not only are they attempting to register as many Democrats as possible, they’re further pushing the drop boxes which have been proven to have opened the door to massive fraud in the 2020 election.
The National Low Income Housing Coalition, a nonprofit public housing advocacy group, noted that the guidance handed down from HUD to local housing agencies marks the first time in over 25 years that the federal government has encouraged local agencies receiving federal tax dollars to get involved in voter registration.
HUD’s action has created obvious ethical issues according to Stewart Whitson, legal director for the watchdog group the Foundation for Government Accountability.
The organization has filed a lawsuit under the Freedom of Information Act against the Justice Department in which they are seeking records on how the Biden regime is going about implementing Biden’s executive order.
“Government offices can offer voter registration forms, but voter registration drives are different,” Whitson told The Daily Signal, adding:
“Take public housing, for instance. It is presumed [that] residents of public housing might disproportionately vote Democrat. … The executive order targets people receiving government benefits who might think their benefits depend on one party in power.”
Whitson also pointed out that elections are state and local matters and the federal government might not even have constitutional authority to get involved in them.
“If the federal agencies comply with the executive order, this is executive branch overreach that would prompt Congress to intervene and states to sue,” he said.
Prior to this latest guidance from HUD, officials at most public housing agencies would say they weren’t permitted to get involved in voter registration because they take money from the federal government and elections are outside of the federal government’s purview.
However, Biden’s executive order and HUD’s guidance mark a significant change, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition.
“For many years, various housing organizations, and specifically public housing agencies (PHAs), indicated that they cannot participate in voter registration because they receive federal funding,” the housing coalition said in a press release, adding:
“When NLIHC told them federal funding was not a barrier, the only proof at hand was a [Office of Public and Indian Housing] letter from 1996. These new actions by the HUD offices are the first affirmation in 26 years that HUD offices and the programs they fund should involve themselves in ensuring their residents have a voice in elections.”
This new attempt by the Biden regime is only going to lead to more rigged elections. This is just opening the door for federally-funded agencies to bully, intimidate, bribe and harass low-income housing residents into voting the way the regime wants.
Just another Democrat scheme to steal future elections.
