There is a biblical way to witness to your friends and loved ones, and what to do if those relationships have suffered because of your passion to see them get saved
The number one question we’ve gotten over the years is from saved people wanting to know how to witness to their lost friends and loved ones. Many people have witnessed so passionately that their witness has broken the very same relationships in their lives of people they were seeking to be saved. How can this very real problem be rectified and reconciled? Your King James Bible has the answer! On this Sunday Service, we show you from the Bible what a witness is, how to witness, and what to do if your witness is not accepted. Jesus had this ‘problem’ and so did the Apostle Paul, but take heart, there is an answer and it’s right there in your Bible!
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” 1 Peter 3:15 (KJB)
SUNDAY SERVICE STUDY NOTES: How To Witness To Your Friends and Loved Ones
How To Witness To Your Friends and Loved Ones
WHAT IS A WITNESS?
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” 1 Peter 3:15 (KJB)
“For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.” Acts 22:15 (KJB)
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;” Philippians 2:15 (KJB)
“A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.” Proverbs 14:25 (KJB)
HOW TO WITNESS?
“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (KJB)
“Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas, And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:29-31
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 (KJB)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9 (KJB)
WHAT IF THEY DON’T WANT IT?
“Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.” Mark 10:21,22 (KJB)
“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” Matthew 23:37 (KJB)
“That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.” Titus 3:7-11 (KJB)
THE APOSTLE PAUL’S ‘50-50 SPLIT’ WITNESSING:
“But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against. And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.” Acts 28:22-24 (KJB)
THE UNBELIEVERS IN JESUS FAMILY:
“Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.” Mark 6:3 (KJB)
“For neither did his brethren believe in him.” John 7:5 (KJB)
“While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him. Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” Matthew 12:46-50 (KJB)
“But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.” Galatians 1:19 (KJB)
DL MOODY UNSAVED SON:
In college at Yale, DL Moody’s son William was a lost man, and that grieved Moody tremendously. Instead of being critical, Moody wrote a heartfelt and loving letter to his son.
“My son, you’re breaking my heart that you won’t be in heaven with me” is a quote from D.L. Moody’s loving letter to his son, William Fletcher Moody, who was struggling with his faith and professing not to be a Christian. Moody wrote the letter to express his pain over his son’s spiritual state, while also pleading with him to return to Jesus and embrace the necessity of the Gospel. William eventually did, coming to Christ and going on to write an authorized biography of his father.
