Putin in Russia and Trump in America are both flexing major military muscle right now, at what point do their paths collide?
We are living right now in times that feel, at once, brand-new and yet hauntingly familiar, on the edge of something unseen yet almost like a rerun. The strongman in Russia is actively provoking NATO with ever-increasing incursions across the borders of member nations, as the strongman in America who just created the Department of War looks set to take it for a test drive. I guess the only question is when will the two meet? My guess is that it’ll be sooner rather than later.

Multiple factors are contributing to Russia’s recent provocations against NATO, including testing the alliance’s resolve, diverting attention from the war in Ukraine, and exploiting perceived divisions. In September 2025, these actions have included an unprecedented number of violations of NATO airspace by Russian drones and fighter jets. And Putin is doing it all with a smile on his face. We’ve told you from the beginning, he keeps the war with Ukraine at a constant mid-level of activity, and using it as bait to draw the other nations in.
Following military strikes on drug-smuggling boats in the Caribbean in September 2025, the Trump administration has been reportedly weighing potential strikes on drug targets within Venezuela. The stated rationale for these actions is to disrupt drug trafficking networks and combat “narcoterrorism”. But war watchers say it’s not about that but really about effecting regime change. The use of military force against alleged drug traffickers has been carried out without congressional approval, raising constitutional questions about the scope of the president’s authority.
That there will be a WWIII is unimpeachable, and given the way God likes to do things in 3’s, it nearly a foregone conclusion. But I will say this, stick your head out the window and take a deep breath, war is in the air on every side. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is summoning hundreds of top U.S. generals and admirals to a highly unusual and unprecedented in-person meeting at the Marine base in Quantico, Virginia. Hegseth’s reason for the large-scale, short-notice gathering is unclear, prompting widespread anxiety and speculation within the Pentagon and beyond. The meeting is planned for the same week that a government shutdown could occur, which would halt non-urgent travel.
