President Trump using his nascent crypto wealth to build a grand ballroom at the White House is a tone-deaf pitch at pushing a fictious ‘Golden Age’ narrative
The labor market is cooling, costs of goods and services continue rising, interest rates are up, home sales sluggish, and the list goes on and on. While the economy is not bad per se, it is weak, and everyday Americans continue to feel the ‘pain at the pump’ and just about everywhere else. So it’s probably not the best time for the ultra-rich elites to be throwing crypto money around, magnify the wealth gap between them and us. Did I just call Donald Trump one of the elites? Sure did, and that’s the memo.
“But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.” Luke 6:24 (KJB)
I have no problem with President Trump wanting to modify the White House, he would not be the first to do so. I also have no problem with having a big BBQ meal with all the fixin’s, either. But I probably wouldn’t enjoy a meal like that in front of someone who didn’t have enough to eat without first inviting them to the party. Donald Trump and his inner circle are raking in billions of dollars in crypto profits, and that’s great for them. But don’t tell me it’s a ‘Golden Age’ if you’re the only one with all the gold. Trump telling people that it “won’t cost the taxpayer a dime” is really him bragging about having so much money, he can personally write the check on $250 million ballroom. That is a slap in the face to Americans everywhere struggling to put food on the table. If Barack Obama was the one building a very much unneeded ballroom at the White House, how would you feel about it? That’s how you should feel about Trump doing it if you’re honest. Hey man, go fix the economy first, then build a ballroom and we’ll all dance in it together. Last time I checked, that’s how it’s supposed to work.
White House begins demolishing East Wing facade to build Trump’s ‘much needed’ grand ballroom
FROM MSN: Demolition crews on Monday began tearing down part of the White House to build President Donald Trump’s long-desired ballroom despite his pledge that construction of the $250 million addition wouldn’t “interfere” with the existing building.
Construction teams were demolishing a portion of the East Wing, with a backhoe ripping through the structure, according to a photo shared with The Washington Post and two people who witnessed the activity and spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe it.
A cluster of people, including members of the Secret Service, stood on the steps of the Treasury Department to watch the construction unfold, said one of the people. Sounds of construction were also audible on the White House campus, although the project was not easily visible to the public given fencing on the grounds.
Trump acknowledged the project in remarks Monday afternoon in the White House’s East Room, gesturing to the wall behind him.
“Right on the other side, you have a lot of construction going on, which you might hear periodically,” the president said at an event honoring the Louisiana State University and Louisiana State University at Shreveport baseball teams. He subsequently posted on his Truth Social platform that the “much-needed project” had begun.
“For more than 150 years, every President has dreamt about having a Ballroom at the White House to accommodate people for grand parties, State Visits, etc.,” the president wrote. READ MORE
