Russia Claims To Have Captured The City Of Lysychansk In Ukraine Which Would Give Its Forces Control Of The Eastern Donbas Region

Russia claimed on Sunday to have captured the city of Lysychansk, the last remaining holdout in Ukraine’s Luhansk province, which would give Moscow forces control of the eastern Donbas region.

What started out as “*gasp*, it’s WWIII!!!” has turned into another grinding conflict that most people have stopped paying attention to, and that’s just fine with Putin and Russia. Today the news comes in that Russian forces have captured the last holdout city in Ukraine, Lysychansk. But prophecy watchers take heart, it may yet turn into WWIII before too much longer.

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.” Luke 21:9 (KJB)

The real goal of Putin’s war is not simply to capture Ukraine, but to ensnare the United States and NATO while capturing Ukraine. President Biden, speaking Thursday at a summit of NATO leaders, said the United States is “rallying the world to stand with Ukraine” and pledged to support the cause “as long as it takes.” “I don’t know … how it’s going to end,” the president said, “but it will not end with a Russian defeat of Ukraine in Ukraine.” If Biden said it won’t end that way, it’s a virtual guarantee that it will end that way. Biden said the Taliban would not take control of Afghanistan, he said that gas prices would come down and that recession wasn’t inevitable. As troop buildup in Europe continues, let’s just pray America will be smart enough to stay out of Putin’s war, which is looking less and less likely.

Russia claims to have captured last Ukrainian holdout city in Luhansk

FROM THE NY POST: Ukraine’s military said it had withdrawn its forces from Lysychansk — but President Volodymyr Zelensky disputed that the city had fallen.

“Lysychansk is still being fought for,” he said at a press conference Sunday alongside Australia’s visiting prime minister. “We cannot give you the final judgment.”

Moscow said that Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had informed President Vladimir Putin that Russian troops assisted by members of a separatist militia “have established full control over the city of Lysychansk.” The reported fall of the Ukrainian bastion completes “the liberation of the Luhansk People’s Republic,” the ministry said in a statement.

Zelensky, however, said Ukrainian forces were continuing to fight Russian soldiers on the city’s outskirts and noted that territory can move quickly from one side to the other.

A spokesman for Ukraine’s defense ministry said earlier the battle for Luhansk will continue, pointing out that “other large cities in the Donbas area, in particular in the Donetsk region” are still under control of Ukrainian forces.

“These are cities that for the last couple of days [have been] targets of severe missile attacks, artillery shelling, but the battle for the Donbas is not over yet,” Yuriy Sak told the BBC on Sunday. He said military support provided by its Western allies will help turn the tide and “allow us to liberate our lands.”

Luhansk along with Donetsk make up the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine, an area that has seen continuous conflict since Russia illegally annexed Crimea in 2014 and backed separatist militia groups fighting the government. Russia turned its attention to the area after its troops failed to take over the capital Kyiv in the early days of the invasion that Putin launched on Feb. 24.  Intense fighting was reported around Lysychansk in the past weeks as Ukrainian forces defended the city to prevent it from being overtaken by Russian troops as nearby Severodonetsk did a week ago. Luhansk’s governor wrote on social media earlier Sunday that the Russian military was advancing on the city.

“The Russians are strengthening their positions in the Lysychansk area, the city is on fire,” Serhiy Haidai said.

“The occupiers threw all their forces on Lysychansk. They attacked the city with incomprehensibly cruel tactics,” Haidai said.  “They suffer significant losses, but stubbornly advance. They are gaining a foothold in the city.”

Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, said late Saturday that Russian forces had crossed a river separating Lysychansk from Severodonetsk, creating a “threatening” situation. READ MORE

Russia’s defence minister tells President Vladimir Putin that Moscow’s forces “have established full control over the city of Lysychansk” in Ukraine’s Luhansk province. Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin that “as a result of successful military operations, the armed forces of the Russian Federation, together with units of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic, have established full control over the city of Lysychansk”, according to Russian news agencies.

When you contribute to this fundraising effort, you are helping us to do what the Lord called us to do. The money you send in goes primarily to the overall daily operations of this site. When people ask for Bibles, we send them out at no charge. When people write in and say how much they would like gospel tracts but cannot afford them, we send them a box at no cost to them for either the tracts or the shipping, no matter where they are in the world. Even all the way to South Africa. We even restarted our weekly radio Bible study on Sunday nights again, thanks to your generous donations. All this is possible because YOU pray for us, YOU support us, and YOU give so we can continue growing.

But whatever you do, don’t do nothing. Time is short and we need your help right now. If every one of the 15,860+ people on our daily mailing list gave $4.50, we would reach our goal immediately. If every one of our 150,000+ followers on Facebook gave $1.00 each, we would reach 300% of our goal. The same goes for our 15,900 followers on Twitter. But sadly, many will not give, so we need the ones who can and who will give to be generous. As generous as possible.
