THE BIBLE BELIEVERS SUNDAY SERVICE: All In, All The Time

‘All In, All The Time’ in the life of the Christian is not all that different than in the life of a Navy SEAL, we are to continue the mission as a soldier of the Lord Jesus Christ

The Navy SEAL motto of “All in, all the time” ought to stir every born-again Christian to examine just how seriously he or she takes their service to Jesus Christ. Soldiers willingly undergo demanding preparation and face danger because they have committed themselves to a mission. Have you? Paul places that same seriousness of purpose before the believer when he compares the Christian life to that of the soldier’s life. That command reaches into the decisions we make when obedience becomes uncomfortable. Will we speak the gospel when someone might reject us? Will we give our time to helping another person when we already have plans? Will we stand by sound doctrine when compromising would win us approval? Jesus Christ has saved us by His grace, and His mercy deserves nothing less than wholehearted surrender. Being “all in, all the time” means making ourselves available to Him, including the parts of our lives we find hardest to surrender.

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” 2 Timothy 2:3 (KJB)

“All the time” is where that surrender becomes a daily testimony. We continue studying the King James Bible, praying for lost souls, and doing the work God has given us when the excitement of beginning has passed. A Bible placed into a prisoner’s hands may bear fruit long after we have forgotten the delivery. A gospel witness may remain in someone’s thoughts for years before we see a response. Paul gives us reason to keep going. In these last days, we have opportunities to reach people that we must use while they are before us. Let us serve with the end of our course in view, determined by God’s grace to finish with Paul’s testimony. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”

The Bible Believers Sunday Service: All In, All The Time

All In, All The Time

Main Text

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJB)

The believer is called to give his whole life to Jesus Christ and continue faithfully in His service through the strength of His grace. The saying “All in, all the time” provides an illustration of complete and wholehearted commitment to the mission. Paul gives the Christian a direct command: be stedfast, be unmoveable, and always abound in the work of the Lord. His instruction follows the assurance of resurrection and victory through Jesus Christ. Because Christ has conquered death, our labour in Him has lasting value. We can serve with conviction today because we know how the story ends. Now let’s apply this in very easy to understand and practical terms.

“This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:” 1 Timothy 1:18,19 (KJB)

The Navy SEAL Ethos

(taken from the Navy SEAL site)

In times of war or uncertainty there is a special breed of warrior ready to answer our Nation’s call. Common citizens with uncommon desire to succeed. Forged by adversity, they stand alongside America’s finest special operations forces to serve their country, the American people, and protect their way of life.

I am that warrior.

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.” 2 Timothy 2:1-5 (KJB)

I serve with honor on and off the battlefield. The ability to control my emotions and my actions, regardless of circumstance, sets me apart from others. Uncompromising integrity is my standard. My character and honor are steadfast.

I will never quit. I persevere and thrive on adversity. My Nation expects me to be physically harder and mentally stronger than my enemies. If knocked down, I will get back up, every time. I will draw on every remaining ounce of strength to protect my teammates and to accomplish our mission.

I am never out of the fight.

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” 1 Timothy 6:12

We demand discipline. We expect innovation. The lives of my teammates and the success of our mission depend on me – my technical skill, tactical proficiency, and attention to detail.

My training is never complete.

“And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.” Philippians 3:9-15 (KJB)

We train for war and fight to win. I stand ready to bring the full spectrum of combat power to bear in order to achieve my mission and the goals established by my country. The execution of my duties will be swift and violent when required yet guided by the very principles that I serve to defend.

I will not fail.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:6-8 (KJB)

I. ‘All In’ Begins With The Grace Of God

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 2:1 (KJB)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 (KJB)

Truth: Paul establishes the foundation before he gives Timothy the soldier’s command: be strong in grace. Salvation is God’s gift, and good works belong to the life He has created in Christ. The Christian serves from the standing God has given him. Wholehearted service grows out of gratitude for salvation and dependence on the Lord.

Application: Begin each day acknowledging your need for Christ. Bring your weakness to Him in prayer, believe His word, and take the next step of obedience. When you fail, confess the sin and return to faithful service. His grace gives you the reason and ability to get up and continue.

II. ‘All In’ Means Presenting Your Whole Life

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 (KJB)

Truth: Paul asks believers to present their bodies. Our service reaches into the actual use of our hands, eyes, mouths, strength, and time. A living sacrifice remains available to God in the ordinary decisions of life. Paul calls this reasonable service because God’s mercy deserves a willing response.

Application: Consider what your schedule and spending reveal about your priorities. Bring your plans before the Lord and obey what Scripture makes clear. Let your speech, conduct, and use of your abilities show that your life is available to Him.

III. ‘All In’ Means Keeping Your Allegiance Clear

“No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.” 2 Timothy 2:4 (KJB)

Truth: The soldier’s purpose is to please the one who chose him. Entanglement occurs when the affairs of life take control of our obedience. The Christian must carry out his responsibilities with Christ’s approval governing his choices. Career, possessions, recreation, and public opinion must remain subject to that allegiance.

Application: Ask what has the strongest influence over your decisions. Fulfil your duties to your family and in your work as service to Christ. When an ambition or habit pulls you away from clear biblical obedience, deal with it. Give the Lord authority over the choices that cost you something.

IV. ‘All In’ Means Preparing Yourself In The Word

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJB)

Truth: Commitment includes preparation. Paul commands Timothy to study and rightly divide the word of truth. A faithful workman must handle Scripture carefully, understanding its context and the distinctions God has placed in it. Enthusiasm needs the direction of sound doctrine if our service is to be approved unto God.

Application: Set aside regular time to read and study your King James Bible. Compare Scripture with Scripture, identify who is being addressed, and distinguish God’s instructions to Israel from His instructions to the Church. Learn what Paul teaches believers about salvation, their walk, their service, and their blessed hope.

V. ‘All In’ Means Enduring Hardness

“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” 2 Timothy 2:3 (KJB)

“But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5 (KJB)

Truth: Paul includes hardship in his instructions for service. Timothy is to watch, endure afflictions, and continue his work. Opposition and disappointment test whether our commitment rests on Christ or on favourable circumstances. Faithfulness becomes visible when obedience carries a cost.

Application: When criticism comes, examine it by Scripture and continue in what God has commanded. When a ministry effort is difficult, seek the Lord’s wisdom and the help you need to carry it out faithfully. Keep your heart free from bitterness as you persevere. Hardness must be endured with Christian character.

VI. All The Time Means Wholehearted Daily Service

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” Colossians 3:23 (KJB)

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” 2 Timothy 4:2 (KJB)

Truth: Colossians places wholehearted service in the setting of everyday responsibilities. Paul’s charge to Timothy also requires readiness in season and out of season. Both passages challenge us to serve faithfully when circumstances change. Consistency reaches into the quiet duties of the week as well as the public work of the ministry.

Application: Do your daily work honestly and carefully. Show patience at home, keep your promises, and help people without waiting for recognition. Be ready to speak the gospel when an opportunity comes. For those who preach and teach, let Scripture govern the message and longsuffering govern the manner.

VII. All The Time Means Continuing Until The Harvest

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” Galatians 6:9 (KJB)

Truth: Sowing and reaping take place on God’s timetable. Weariness can tempt a believer to abandon good work before its fruit becomes visible. Paul’s promise encourages patient perseverance. Our main text supplies the same assurance: labour in the Lord has value even when we cannot yet see its results.

Application: Continue praying for the person whose salvation you desire. Keep giving the gospel, supporting missions, and serving those God has placed before you. A Bible placed into someone’s hands may bear fruit long after the moment of delivery. Trust God with the harvest while you remain faithful in the sowing.

VIII. All The Time Means Finishing Your Course

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7,8 (KJB)

Truth: Paul’s testimony gives us a picture of completed service. He had continued in the fight, finished his assigned course, and kept the faith. His expectation of the Lord’s reward and appearing reached beyond his present suffering. A believer who loves Christ’s appearing has a compelling reason to remain faithful today.

Application: Serve with the end of your course in view. Keep sound doctrine, use the opportunities you have, and help others continue in the faith. Let the expectation of meeting Jesus Christ shape what you do with the time that remains.

Application

Examine your life in the light of these commands. Identify an area you have withheld from the Lord, an entanglement that needs attention, or a duty you have allowed to drift. Take a concrete step of obedience today. Establish time in the Bible and prayer, make yourself available for service, and follow through on the responsibility God has already put before you.

Closing Challenge

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” Joshua 1:9 (KJB)

“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” 1 Corinthians 16:13 (KJB)

The question before us is whether we are faithfully using what the Lord has entrusted to us. What have you been postponing? Where has obedience become conditional on convenience? What would change this week if you presented yourself to God without reserving a part of your life?

“Charlie Mike” means “continue the mission!”

All In All The Time means the whole life surrendered to Jesus Christ. All the time means continuing faithfully in the responsibilities He gives us. By His grace, let us live so that we can reach the end of our course having kept the faith.
